The Drum & Bass Thread (formally Drum 'n' Bass is dead?)
The Drum & Bass Thread (formally Drum 'n' Bass is dead?) Posted on: 19.08.2008 by Random X Every now and than, a musical genres foremost poet or pioneer will come forth claiming the style is dead. We've already seen it in punk, hip hop, metal, rock and opera already. Stupidest thing even, that this seems to be some kind of "retro- cycle" that passes along every decade. With the coming of styles like dubstep amongst others, purists are really keen on claiming that these styles are no derative or subgenre of our beloved DnB. Better yet, they utter the words "DnB is dead!" If your own creative impulses can't cope with a style any longer, why claim it is dead in the first place? Couldn't it just evolve into other (sub)styles? No, kill your idols instead! There seems to be no better way to start something new, than completely destroy any relations with the past. How can a genre with high BPM rates be dead, while comparing it to the ever so low BPM rates of the ever so vivid dubstep? Ofcourse, BPM rates are not a factor in this case, but people listening and enjoying DnB are. There are still heaps and heaps of bass-heads still jumping their shoes to the sounds of d&b pioneers as Krush, Bukem, Dom & Roland and all others still producing. Agreed that the old spirit needs to be revived. Still, it's no reason to don the old lass after that much joy she has given us. Drum and Bass is dead? It seems ever so vibrant as it was in 1996! | |
Random X 24.07.2009 | Sounds cool man! |

Adolf Hit 23.07.2009 | I gotta say the Pendulum drummer is hands down the worst drummer Ive seen at a paid gig in my life. I caught them about a year ago and he was loosing time every few minutes, from the mezzanine floor you could see the crowd die each time he went out, that was a disappointing gig! But voodoo people rmx is still a great tune |
Lilliana Perris 23.07.2009 | Anyone into Noisia? Their Prodigy remix of The Omen is out there! |
Lilliana Perris 23.07.2009 | Anyone seen the Pendulum - Live @ Brixton Academy DVD? Agreed that their latest album does not satisfy completely.....but just seeing them jam Voodoo People live was something else. Coming from a drumming background, the drummer blew me away! Hot damn! he was TIIIIIIIIGHT! Respect is due! |
Andriy Gavrysh 23.07.2009 | yeah, i like that one too... is it out on hospital yet? |
Verona Fashbaugh 23.07.2009 | ^^^ Holy shit!!!! That song is fucking awesome! Please tell me I can get my hands on that song somewhere.... |
Tianna Laguerre 23.07.2009 | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atfvZNZVEKI more hospital in yer face but serisouly, had to mention this one, because B-Complex is fellow Slovak and it's serious accomplishment that his choons are on Hospital theese days... Mendy Folts 16.07.2009 | I don't thing pendulum melt drum'n'bass and metal more something like poprock and metal. anyway it's some good music, me don't like anyway ! The problem is that for lots of people drum'n'bass is clownstep like fresh or clipz...Stupid wooble stuff. but drum'n'bass is so complex there is lots of subgenre if you like deep cinematic drum'n'bass chez naibu if you like heavy as fuck brutal and dark shit try Current value or limewax By the way i'm doing a blog about the darkside of drum'n'bass and breakcore check it if you want news and free mix Satanical Bots Ritual |
